Our projects in general...

We work for the conservation of the biodiversity, as well, all of our projects aim to reconcile environmental protection and sustainable development of the people living there. For example helping people to live with these animals, permit economic development of villages environmentally friendly ... In short : to assess, advise and assist in the establishment insofar as possible.

Rehabilitation of the Kalfou Reserve

Kalfou forest Reserve (Mayo-Danay, Extreme-North, Cameroon), not considered as a wildlife reserve in its creation in 1933, now houses the great iconic mammals such as elephants, giraffes, lions, hyenas, wild dogs, warthogs and many antelope and bird species.

Unfortunately, no facilities has been designed to accommodate such species. Elephants and carnivores threaten crops and livestock, but also for the safety of villagers.

It is important to act quickly for the rehabilitation of this reserve, integrating protection of fauna and flora, but also economic development of local populations.

Once sustained the reserve will become a peace place favorable to the development of eco-tourism.

Biodiversity conservation in the Kaï-Kaï basin

The ecosystems of the Logone Valley host an extraordinary diversity of endemic species whose presence is favored by the great variety of environments.

Forest of the Kaï-Kaï Basin is an extension of the Reserve Kalfou and is a known migration corridor. We wish to classify as a communal forest for it to be protected.

Our primary mission is to plead around the project to create a regulatory framework (awareness of administrative authorities and elites, local people for the upcoming ranking committee work ...).

Then, as in Reserve Kalfou, we will need to collect and use data on the forest (cartography, topography, hydrography, vegetation, wildlife populations, human activities ...).

And finally, implement a layout plan and natural resource management Kai Kai basin.

Creation of a center of care and breeding of endengered species

Our association and our projects begin to make talk about themselves and people have already started to bring us all injured animals found !

We currently recovered two crowned cranes, a sulcata tortoise, two raptors that have already taken off !

So we need to create a suitable structure with veterinary equipment (enclosure, incubators, surgery room...) and hire a vet.

However, the necessary equipment that can be bought only in Europe we have to consider the cost of the conveyance in Cameroon by container.

Moreover, with injured animals that can not be re-introduced, we can create a breeding center for performing reinforcement of populations or reintroductions.

Sustainable development of local populations

First, we will try to initiate villagers in fields such as beekeeping, glassware (honey pots), chilli cultivation (to keep away the elephants) or soap (with donkey milk), managing of an orchard ...

All of these courses are designed to help people to earn money while maintaining biodiversity and limiting the "looting" of the reserve.

Also, we plan to create an agricultural cooperative to help them sell their products, and why not the marketing of products internationally through the website. Thus, the money collected will generate a fund if villagers see their crops or livestock affected by animals of the reserve.

Next, we want to help villagers to construct buildings for their schools, which for the most part, are only made of straw... We also hope that the funds generated by the project will allow us to buy hardware for classes (books, notebooks, pencils, tables...)

Landscaping of the Guéré Lake

Wina city (Mayo-Danay, Extreme-North, Cameroon) is known for its lake with abundant fish, but also for its hippos.

However, the increase in fishing-related activities represent a threat to the regeneration of fish populations but also for the safety of villagers gradually encroaching on the territory of hippos.

Also we proposed the creation of a conservatory of biodiversity including fishes, hippos and water birds, while maintaining the fishing activities.

We want to stimulate the interest of tourists but also the relevant Ministries (forests and wildlife, agriculture and fisheries, scientific research, environment...).

We hope that Wina become a model in terms of conservation and an inescapable place for researchers and passionates.

Education for environmental
protection

For all our projects are conducted at best, it is important to educate people gradually in proportion as these projects progress or problems arise.

However, we want to guide our work upstream, among youth of Yagoua, who represent future generations, and therefore those who later will decide the future of their environment...

We want to benefit local schools in our project by organizing educational outings to introduce students to the reserve, animals and our mission. We hope to generate interest in biodiversity and conservation.

Clubs of Friends of Nature (CAN) in Yagoua high schools and students of the School of Sahel Forestry (EFS) are ready to invest with us in this direction. They are developing their own initiatives such as flowerbeds and garbage in the city.

Creation of a
plant nursery for reforestation

Whether in or outside the Reserve, many areas have been deforested. Several reasons for this : lack of money that pushes the villagers to go into the forest to collect wood for resale it, the building of charcoal kilns causing bushfires, water shortages forcing herders graze livestock away from villages ...

Between overgrazing, bushfires and logging, it is urgent to educate people but especially to create a plant nursery to reforest these areas quickly.

Thus, to facilitate the various reforestation and limit future costs, we plan to create our own tree nursery and develop our own plans.

We will have available the necessary equipment to our mission, but we will also have a good educational tool for students.

Introduce ecotourism

From the time the reserve as conservation in the Logone Valley have been accepted by villagers, and that a balance has been reached, we will be able to discover these beautiful places for tourists (local or foreign).

Note that we are considering a responsible eco-tourism. Tourists will rub with wildlife of the reserve at its ends without entering it in a so-called buffer zone to preserve the tranquility of animals.

For this, childcare facilities will be built in villages such as houses with solar panels (bringing together energy in villages), watchtowers with telescopes at the water points at the ends of the reserve, a museum of ethnic groups to discover the local traditions...

Many projects that will boost the craft and develop the economy of populations towards sustainable development of the reserve and its surroundings.
